HUDSON VIEW GARDENS

The Historic Charm Of New York's Washington Heights With Contemporary Updates

LOCATION: NY - Washington Heights

PROJECT: Residential - Private Client

PHOTOGRAPHER: Ben Peterson

Hudson View Gardens, designed by renowned architect George Frederick Pelham, was built in 1924. This Tudor architecture boasts over 4 acres of exquisite gardens and a private picnic terrace overlooking the river. Keeping in tune with Washington Heights thriving urban neighborhood full of green spaces, vibrant nightlife, and a bustling commercial center we wanted the interior space of this charming 2 bedroom bachelor pad to celebrate the blend of old and new. Taking things down to the bare bones and building them back up in a more efficient and modern light without compromising the historic charm was essential. Signature window frames, doors, and moldings that were integral to the design characteristics of this architecture were refinished and refined to shed new light on their historic values. We off-set those more traditional elements with ultra-modern but comfortable interior effects rendering a true celebration of updated historical charm.
